Before our photographers even arrive on-site, we guide clients through our Photography Preparation Checklist. This ensures every home is photo-ready and clutter-free, which is essential for clean, inviting imagery.
Key prep steps include:
- All lights turned on, fans off, blinds open
- Toilets closed, counters cleared, beds made
- Exterior tidied—cars removed from driveway, trash bins hidden

Step 2: Mastering the Technical Settings
All Sparks Media Group photographers follow standardized camera settings to achieve consistently crisp, vibrant images:
- Aperture Priority mode (f/8)
- ISO 100 for clarity
- 5-bracketed exposures (-4 to +4 EV) for dynamic range
- White balance set to AWB
- Neutral picture style
These settings allow us to blend multiple exposures during post-production for that perfectly lit, detail-rich result.
Step 3: Composition That Sells
We follow a disciplined shooting strategy that includes:
- Three-wall shots to showcase room depth
- Horizontal-only framing for professional alignment
- Multiple angles per room, focusing on focal points like fireplaces, built-ins, or vaulted ceilings
- Straight verticals to keep walls and lines clean and natural
- Waist-level interior shots for a natural “in-the-room” feel
We shoot each space with intent, ensuring buyers feel spatial context and emotional appeal.
Step 4: The Exterior Treatment
We take a minimum of five shots of the front (left, center, right, plus closeups) and a six-shot grid of the backyard for full visual coverage. Depending on the property, we’ll also include side yards, gardens, and architectural highlights like pergolas, decks, and custom lighting.
Step 5: Editing—Where the Magic Happens
Once captured, all images go through our in-house editing pipeline where:
- Bracketed images are blended for optimal exposure
- Colors are balanced and whites corrected
- Sky replacements are added on gloomy days
- TV and fireplace screens may be enhanced
- Minor object removal (cords, shadows, etc.) is performed

Step 6: 24-Hour Turnaround and Client Access
All media is delivered through our custom platform—typically within 24 hours or less. Agents receive a property website link, MLS-optimized files, high-res versions, and access to any ordered add-ons like virtual staging, floor plans, or twilight enhancements.
